New Year, Bigger Impact

We can’t believe it’s about to be 2023 already! As the holidays come and go, January awaits you with an opportunity to reflect and create a plan to shape your entire year. A new year brings the promise of new beginnings, a new year to define ourselves, and a fresh start.

There are many reasons why making resolutions is so essential. Each year New Year Resolutions allow us to build steps toward a better foundation. It’s a chance to re-evaluate current practices, establish intentions moving forward, and track progress over time.

The support we have received over the past few particularly challenging years humbles us. Thanks to supporters like you, we have continued to show up for our neighbors in need, providing essential services.

Our Hunger and Nutrition Program launched Project Pivot to expand our reach through partnerships with local schools, government, and health and human services agencies. It’s our mission to provide nutritious foods to those for whom it would otherwise be unattainable.

Our Open Door Clinic has begun operating a walk-in clinic, making a years-long dream come true. Our established patients can now be seen and treated with a same day appointment; we always strive to provide the highest standard of healthcare to our patients.

Our Helen Wright Center for Women was fortunate to receive support from Wake County’s Bridge to Home Program. The goal is to assist women experiencing homelessness in achieving independent permanent housing and economic self-sufficiency.  Thanks to this program, we now offer on-site mental health counseling, no longer requiring the women to wait 2-3 months for an appointment off-site.

Hundreds of volunteers have remained loyal. And staff continue to embody our tagline and show up for Wake County with compassion, dignity, and care on their minds. The UMWC community strives to serve our clients with the highest quality.

Your ongoing support will allow us to make great things happen in the new year ahead and beyond.

Our New Year resolution is to build partnerships in our community to help fight against hunger, expand our Open Door Clinic patients’ well-being through access to care and education, and provide affordable housing to women experiencing homelessness, and increase volunteer activity.

We are forever grateful for your continued support, and we can’t wait to see what the New Year brings. Visit our website for more opportunities to volunteer, organize a drive, and donate.
