Since 1985, the Open Door Clinic has been a beacon of light for the community. The program was one of the earliest free and charitable clinics established in North Carolina and is Wake County’s only free and charitable clinic with an onsite licensed pharmacy focused on improving access to care for the medically underserved. Operating on a foundation of collaboration among community organizations, partnerships remain fundamental to our work.
The ODC provides a patient-centered medical home for approximately 1,565 patients each year. As a medical clinic for the uninsured, free, and low-cost services are provided at the clinic or upon referral to one of our partners. Together, we improve patient care and health for all people by fostering the core principles of justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, respect, and trust. Among the partners providing both referrals and services to patients are:
Wake Smiles is a non-profit organization that provides dental services at a low cost to our patients.
WakeMed Health and Hospitals provides radiology services at no charge to our patients. The organization donated three interpreters on wheels for our clinic, allowing us to communicate with our patients in their preferred language.
Duke Raleigh Hospital provides laboratory services at no charge to our patients.
Breakthrough Physical Therapy provides physical therapy services at a low cost to our patients.
Project Access of Wake County provides access to donated specialty and diagnostic services.
Filling In the Gaps of Wake County provides prescription and medical supply assistance to our clinic.
In Her Vision provides free eye exams and prescription glasses.
The North Carolina Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program provides free mammograms and follow-ups to eligible patients.
UNC Rex Healthcare Mobile Mammography travels onsite on a bi-monthly basis to provide free screening mammograms to our patients.
