April is a month dedicated to recognizing the importance of volunteering and honoring significant contributions volunteers make by generously donating their time and energy to accomplish UMWC’s mission: engage the community to serve and advocate on behalf of those affected by poverty by providing food and nutrition, promoting health and wellness, and by laying the foundations of a home.
Our volunteers are an exceptional group of caring and compassionate people. Each individual brings a rich variety of life skills and interests to our organization. This month we asked, “What do you love about volunteering with us?”“The family feel of the team and the dedication to providing holistic care to needing patients.”
“The fact that I can interact with people from different cultural backgrounds and assist them in their medical needs.”
“Volunteering at UMWC allows me to help those who need medical care but otherwise cannot have that access.”
“I love being a part of a family that provides equitable healthcare to socially and economically disadvantaged populations.”
“Very organized, and anyone can volunteer.”
“I love giving back and helping the community. Also, the other volunteers are friendly and helpful.”
To all our volunteers, thank you so much for your remarkable work and the joy, comfort, and peace you bring the families we serve. With your support, we are a stronger organization for our community!
You can make our community better. Become a volunteer with us today! Urban Ministries of Wake County offers many volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups. Work behind the clinic’s scenes or on the food pantry’s front line to hand out weekly groceries. Some positions are specialized and require particular knowledge and abilities. Other positions only require a desire and willingness to volunteer.
If you wish to learn more about our volunteer opportunities, please contact Brittany Herron, Volunteer Services Director, at volunteer@urbanmin.org, or visit our volunteer page here.
